Workshop Description:
Opening the Good Eye is an introduction to the discipline and delight of direct seeing and perception based photography. We begin to develop the ability to synchronize our mind and eye so that our habitual patterns of seeing and labeling dissolve in a moment of stunning vivid, perception.
During the course we will work with visual assignments to explore and dissect the world of form. We develop confidence in our ability to connect directly with what we see, stay fully present with the perception as we fully understand its qualities, and then express our experience precisely with our cameras.
Workshop Details:
The workshop begins on Thursday Evening at 7.30 pm with an introductory talk and slide show. Friday through Sunday takes place from 9.30 am - 5.30 pm and includes exercises, field trips, assignments, talks and reviews.
Teacher: Hèlen Vink studied photography and sculpture at the Utrecht School of Arts in Utrecht, Netherlands. She has been practising meditation and studying Dharma Art and Buddhism since 1997 and has lived and worked in Shambhala Buddhist centres in France and the USA. She has been practising Miksang Photography since 2006 as a student of Michael Wood, the founder of the Miksang Institute of Contemplative Photography, and became a Certified Miksang Instructor in 2008. She is also a meditation instructor.

Miksang Journey
The Essential Instructions on Looking and Seeing
Three Day Workshop
Pre-Requisite: Opening the Good Eye
The basis of the Miksang journey is to have a relationship with the actual practice of clear seeing. This involves understanding and working with three aspects:
•The Flash of Perception
•Visual Discernment
•Forming the Equivalent
This class will guide you so that you can become a master of your ability to express your experience. This is not an introductory course.
In order to be able to collapse our discipline into a single moment so that shooting
is completely free and spontaneous, we have to be firmly balanced on the two legs
of genuineness and confidence. Without these, we can become confused by uncertainty, self doubt, and external reference points.
We can slip into the conventional trap of negotiating our direct experience.
This intensive helps us refine our ability to move through these seemingly separate moments seamlessly with confidence and genuineness. Each day of the workshop we will explore as a group one of the above aspects in more detail than is possible during normal Miksang Levels.
We begin on Thursday evening at 7.30pm with a slideshow and introduction talk.
Friday through Sunday from 9am to 5pm with visual exercises, talks, field trips,
assignments and reviews.
This workshop is highly recommended after Opening the Good Eye
